Defend Democracy
As if the corporate stranglehold on our democracy wasn’t bad enough, Republican-led state legislatures are trying to block access to the ballot box by passing restrictive voting laws. We’re facing a monumental rollback in voting rights in some states; we need Congress to take action at the federal level, protecting every American’s right to vote.

Key Points
- Republican-led states are restricting voting rights
- These restrictions will disproportionately hurt poor people, people with disabilities, and people of color
- We need to restore voting rights but Congress is being held up by the filibuster
- Congress needs to fix the filibuster, then vote to pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act

As if the corporate stranglehold on our democracy wasn’t bad enough, Republican-led state legislatures are trying to block access to the ballot box by passing restrictive voting laws. We’re facing a monumental rollback in voting rights in some states; at the same time, the Jim Crow-filibuster rule gives disproportionate power to a handful of Senators while disenfranchising huge swaths of the American public. We need Congress to take action: protect every American’s right to vote, abolish the anti-democratic filibuster rule and pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
