Yes on Maine Question 2: Stand Up for Students

Maine
Question 2, Stand Up for Students, would increase funding for public education services, not administration, by adding a 3% surcharge on household incomes over $200,000. Estimates are that this would generate more than $150 million annually. Maine's wealthiest residents have enjoyed two recent tax cuts. Many towns have had to increase property taxes or cut education and other services as a result. This ballot measure would allow restoration of these programs by taxing high income households rather than property tax increases which can hurt seniors and others. High income families would pay the 3% surcharge only on their annual income over $200,000. They can afford to do it and support good public education for all of us! Join the Fight & Learn More
