Yes on Proposal 3: Promote the Vote

What would the initiative do?

The measure would add a section to the Michigan Constitution providing citizens qualified to vote in the state with rights to:

  • vote a secret ballot in all elections
  • have an absentee ballot sent to them at least 45 days before the election if serving in the military or living overseas
  • a straight party vote option at the top of the ballot in partisan general elections
  • automatic voter registration when conducting business regarding a driver's license or personal identification card
  • register to vote by mail at least 15 days before an election
  • register to vote in person during the final 14 days before an election
  • absentee voting without giving a reason during the 40 days before an election
  • have results of an election audited
