Ben Jealous is a civic leader and former Our Revolution National board member. At 35 years of age, Ben made history in becoming the youngest person to ever serve as both the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). During his tenure, Ben initiated national programs on criminal justice, health, environmental justice, voting rights, and expanded the organization’s existing programs. Under his leadership, the NAACP also helped register 374,553 voters; mobilized 1.2 million new voters to turn out at the polls for the 2012 presidential election; increased online activism from 175,000 to more than 675,000 people; and increased donors from 16,000 individuals to more than 132,000. Before Ben’s tenure, the NAACP was largely considered a dying organization. Forbes, TIME magazine, and others have credited him with bringing the NAACP back to life.
Ben was one of the most high profile public figures to endorse Senator Sanders's candidacy in the 2015 - 2016 Democratic Presidential Primary.
