I’m running for Montgomery County Council At-Large because we need to build a people-powered democracy from the ground up, and that starts with a local government that actually responds to the needs and hopes and dreams of the residents of our county.
I believe that real democracy means we govern ourselves: instead of sending a representative to an elected body and crossing our fingers that she will do what we hope, we are actively working with that representative to support and hold each other accountable to creating the world we want. The kind of politics I care about isn’t just about winning campaigns.
It isn’t about having the right background or the right message or the right look. I want to build a world that matches our values – a world where justice and love and dignity and care for one another are the bedrock for how we govern ourselves.
Real democracy means we, the people, govern. Our voices are being drowned out by bg money and developers. They write policy to benefit their bottom line at the expense of us. We don’t need to cross our fingers and hope for the best anymore!
My family and I have planted roots in Montgomery County. We moved here in 2015 so we could support one another. Along with me, my mom, my sister and brother-in-law, and my little niece we’ve been able to tackle child care, job losses, and a severe car accident in ways none of us could have done alone. Having easy access to healthcare and good transportation makes all the difference for my health and my livelihood. My family and I have made our home and planted roots here – and that’s why it’s important to me to work every day so we, and families like ours, can continue to live and thrive in Montgomery County.
