Brent Welder is a national workers’ rights advocate and labor lawyer. He is running for Congress because billionaires and giant corporations have too much control over our government. In 2016, Welder was a Bernie delegate and member of the Democratic National Platform Committee, where he wrote an amendment to ban corporate money from elections. The culmination of his work was passage of the most progressive platform in history.
As National Field Director for the Teamsters, Welder organized over a million union members for better wages, benefits, and workplace safety. After law school, instead of joining a big corporate law firm, Welder continued with his passion—supporting workers’ rights as a counsel for a labor union. In this role, Welder worked with to create better paying jobs, revitalize small businesses, and achieve better access to good healthcare. Welder has also held key positions with Barack Obama and Patrick Murphy, the first Iraq veteran elected to Congress.
