Julia DeGraw

Running for City Commissioner of Portland, Pos. 2
Election: May 15, 2018

I’ve lived my entire life in the Portland Metro area. I’ve been an advocate and organizer my entire career, helping people make their voice heard by decision-makers and bringing diverse coalitions together to create change. I’m running for office because it’s past time for City Council to prioritize the people's needs over developer profits, corporate interests, and complacent politicians. I’ve spent my career fighting for the people, most recently as the NW organizer for social and environmental justice organization Food and Water Watch. I led the fight to prevent Nestlé from bottling our public water in the Gorge and won. After the last election, it's clear that we cannot expect good things to come down from the federal government. Progressive change is going to come from the local level. Portlanders are ready for bold change, and I have the experience and track record to win against powerful interests on behalf of people.
