Kareem moved from North Carolina to O'Hara Township to attend O’Hara Elementary School. He then graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School and studied Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh, and has since worked primarily in health care as an engineer and research assistant to increase efficiency and drive down costs in a chronically wasteful system. Known for his activism within the local Muslim community and related minority networks, Kareem also works as part of the broader push for progressive policies in the Pittsburgh area. Kareem volunteered on the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign during the 2016 primary and campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the general election. Kareem is running for State Representative so he may positively shape Pennsylvania’s state policies to benefit the people within his home community. District 30 needs a State Representative committed to improving the school systems, environmental matters, and physical and mental health needs.
