I'm a native Floridian, born in Orlando and raised just outside Wekiwa Springs State Park. I was fortunate to be able to spend so much time out in Florida's natural parks, springs, lakes, rivers, and beaches growing up. I
believe any "real" Floridian is a default environmentalist. My happiest
memories are fishing, crabbing, and playing in the waves from New
Smyrna Beach to the Indian River Lagoon, so it's a pleasant convenience
that I hope to serve District 14.
My top focus is busting up the cozy relationship between big-money campaign donors and beholden legislators. I'll likely gain lots of powerful enemies very quickly, but it needs to happen. We must un-rig the system so we can start effectively discussing policies that will serve the public
interest; restore the People's trust in its own government, and ensure
-- at least in Florida -- we enjoy our rights to a democratic republic.
In the meantime, I hope to bring a practical mind and my leadership experience to bear in service to the folks who live in Senate District 14. My door will always be open to facts, science, logic, and personal accounts regarding what needs to change in Tallahassee. And, to put all potential lobbyists on notice, money does not talk for me. In fact, it detracts from whatever point you may be making. Arguments and advocacy should stand on their own merits, and that's it. If you'd like to persuade me to believe something, show me reliable, authentic, and relevant evidence.
