Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Quang moved to America at the age of 4 where he attended Hewitt-Trussville High School and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Raised by a mother whose unshakeable belief in the American dream paved the way for him to become the first of his family to be a college graduate, Quang has spent his life dedicated to fighting for a fair and equitable education system for all. Awarded as a President Obama 2016 White House Champion of Change for his efforts in addressing social inequality as a teaching artist and Student Affairs practitioner, Quang currently serves as an Individuals and Societies Instructor at an International Baccalaureate school. He is the coach of the Birmingham “Brave New Voices” Youth Poetry Slam team and is a former Advocacy and Policy Director for a local non-profit focused on mentoring young men and boys of color in the Birmingham City School System.
