Tommi is a long-time community and political activist from Accokeek, Maryland. Since moving to Maryland in 2009, he has been actively involved in numerous community issues in Southern Prince George’s County. He has been involved with his HOA, the Preserve at Piscataway HOA, since 2013. He currently serves on the board of the Association and is the immediate past president of the board. He served on the board of the Accokeek Academy PTSA for five years; for two of those years, he was the board president.
Prior to moving to Maryland, Tommi lived in Iowa for ten years. While in Iowa, he was very active politically. In 2007 and 2008 he served as a volunteer advisor and chair of the Energy and Environment Committee for the Obama for America presidential campaign. He also advised two statewide political campaigns and a congressional campaign on energy issues. Tommi works as Principal Energy Analyst for an energy consulting firm based in Columbia, Maryland. He holds a Master of Social Sciences degree from the University of Helsinki. Tommi was born and raised in Finland. He met his wife Dionne while a high school foreign exchange student in Des Moines, Iowa in the 1980s. Tommi moved permanently to the United States in 1995, and he became a U.S. citizen in 2004. Tommi and Dionne have a son, who attends Oxon Hill High School. The family resides in Accokeek, Maryland.
