Term-limits have created open seats across the City, and the winners of these races will be determined using ranked-choice voting. Our Revolution-endorsed candidates won two of the three city-wide contests, the race for Brooklyn borough president and 16 City Council districts in the June primary. For Public Advocate, we have proudly endorsed proven progressive champion Jumaane Williams for re-election. Jumaane is a two-time Bernie delegate, founding member of the Brooklyn chapter of NYPAN, and a supporter of Our Revolution who has spoken at many of our meetings. He is also a nationally recognized human rights and anti-police violence activist. We have also proudly endorsed Brad Lander for Comptroller. Brad is first and foremost an activist, having led an housing rights organization before being elected to the Council. He teamed with Jumaane to found the Progressive Caucus of the City Council and co-sponsored legislation to end stop and frisk. He is also a NYPAN member and a regular guest at our events. ★ ★ ★ BROOKLYN BOROUGH PRESIDENT ![]() Antonio Reynoso won the primary to replace Eric Adams as Brooklyn Borough President, after serving as one of the most progressive members of the City Council. We have proudly endorsed him in this race. ★ ★ ★ CITY COUNCIL RACES ![]() Our Revolution endorsed 16 candidates who won their races for New York City Council, and - if we elect this slate - the city will have its most progressive and diverse legislative body ever. For the first time, the Council will have a female majority. The council will have its first Muslim woman, with the victory of Shanana Hanif, and its first South Asian members ever. Felicia Singh has an opportunity to flip one of the last Republican seats on the Council. Crystal Hudson will be the first openly gay black woman to win a seat on the Council. Marjorie Velazquez will replace a conservative Democrat in the Bronx. A public defender and queer Latina, Tiffany Cabán will be a powerful new voice for criminal justice reform in Queens. Sandy Nurse will replace an establishment incumbent in Brooklyn. ★ ★ ★ Together, these candidates will tackle the issues that are holding too many New Yorkers back - racism, inequality, lack of quality healthcare, housing, public education and so much more - but powerful forces won’t go down without a fight.
