WASHINGTON-- Our Revolution on Wednesday congratulated its endorsed candidate, Garlin Gilchrist II, for advancing to the general election for Detroit’s City Clerk.
“Garlin Gilchrist II’s advancement in the race for Detroit’s City Clerk is a massive victory for the city and confirms that the broader grassroots mission to elect progressive leaders is building momentum at the local level, ” said Our Revolution’s Executive Director, Shannon Jackson. “Our Revolution was proud to support Gilchrist’s campaign and vision to make local government work for the local community. Gilchrist is committed to make sure all voices are heard -- not just a privileged few.”
Prior to his campaign for City Clerk, Gilchrist gained valuable experience as a software engineer at Microsoft, a technology entrepreneur, and as a political organizer with MoveOn.org and the Obama campaign. Since 2014, Gilchrist has served as the City of Detroit’s Director of Innovation & Emerging Technology, where he used his background in tech to make city services more accessible and efficient. As City Clerk, Gilchrist will build upon his work and use his talent for developing innovative solutions to bring all Detroiters into the local decision-making process as active and informed participants.
Our Revolution is committed to electing progressive leaders at every level of government as part of a powerful grassroots movement to transform the American political process.
