WASHINGTON -- Our Revolution on Wednesday announced its endorsement of Jane Kim for Mayor of San Francisco. She is endorsed by Our Revolution local group, The San Francisco Berniecrats. Kim has served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors since 2010 representing District 6. She is currently co-leading an initiative to make early childhood education affordable for all low and middle-income families.
"Jane Kim has been fighting for the rights of people who live on the margins of our society for her entire life,” said Nina Turner, Our Revolution President. “She could have made a fortune working for special interests, instead she’s dedicated her time to being a public servant instituting reforms that have benefited the working people of the San Francisco. I have no doubt that as mayor she will continue to be a fierce advocate for those who are too often forgotten.”
Jane Kim was inspired to become a public servant based on the lessons she learned from her parents – immigrants from South Korea. Kim first volunteered to help homeless residents while in high school and later worked as an organizer for the Chinatown Community Development Center and as a civil rights attorney. As a member of the Board of Supervisors, she authored the $15 minimum wage ordinance and negotiated the highest rates of affordable housing from private developers in the country.
Our Revolution supports progressive champions at every level of government. By supporting candidates up and down the ballot, we are aiming to transform American politics to make our political and economic systems responsive to the needs of working families.
