WASHINGTON -- Our Revolution on Wednesday called Andrew Puzder's withdrawal from consideration as Secretary of Labor nominee "a victory for working Americans."
"Now, we demand a Secretary of Labor who supports the mission of the agency," said Larry Cohen, Our Revolution board chair. "The Secretary of Labor should be supporting a healthy and safe workplace, a living wage, and equity at work. We will demand no less."
Our Revolution has been on the front lines of the opposition to Puzder's nomination, collecting over 40,000 signatures on a petition against his confirmation in less than 24 hours and driving constituents to call their representatives in key states.
Our Revolution and Good Jobs Nation's "Rally to Stop Puzder" will go on as scheduled Thursday at 8:30 a.m. The groups will gather in the Upper Senate Park on Capitol Hill to call for a nominee who will fight the most fundamental battles for workers’ rights, including raising the minimum wage, paid sick leave, the expansion of overtime pay, and the Affordable Care Act.
