WASHINGTON -- Our Revolution released the following statement after Our Revolution-endorsed candidate Julie Ann Nitsch won tonight's runoff election for Place 9 on Austin Community College's Board of Trustees:
"Our Revolution congratulates Julie on tonight's win. There's a reason Our Revolution sent over 51,000 text messages and made over 13,000 calls to our supporters for this race-- because we know Julie is going to fight to represent the best interests of everyone at ACC.
"As a passionate, lifelong believer in the transformative power of higher education, we know that Julie will work tirelessly to create a system that gives everyone a fair shot. As a former student and employee at Austin Community College she has a comprehensive understanding of what students and faculty really need in order for ACC to excel.
"Julie's leadership in taking the fight to her own backyard reflects the type of dedication that continues to fuel the political revolution and we are proud to have supported her.
"Julie finished second with 33 percent of the vote during the general election on November 8th. It takes a strong leader to rally volunteers to keep calling, canvassing, and texting beyond the general election and motivate voters to show up in a special election. The power of our political revolution is showcased by Julie's significant win tonight.
"Our Revolution is proud to congratulate Julie, our only endorsed candidate with a run-off election, in her victory."
