Rima Mohammad for Ann Arbor Board of Education

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Rima Mohammad for re-election to the Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education.

Rima is the daughter of refugees, a parent of four, an educator, scientist, and public servant who knows firsthand the power of public education to transform a life.

Public schools helped create opportunities for Rima and her family. Now, she’s fighting to make sure every student in Ann Arbor has that same opportunity to learn, belong, and thrive.

And at a moment when Ann Arbor Public Schools faces major decisions about its finances and future, Rima isn’t afraid to ask tough questions and demand answers.

Leadership That Isn’t Afraid to Challenge the Status Quo

Rima is running for re-election because she believes Ann Arbor schools need experienced leadership that is transparent, accountable, and rooted in the community.

Since joining the Board, Rima says she has pushed for greater scrutiny of the district’s budget, bond projects, curriculum, student outcomes, and achievement gaps while demanding stronger financial oversight and meaningful community engagement.

As Board President, she helped lead the district through a critical leadership transition and was among the voices raising concerns about financial transparency before the district’s budget crisis emerged.

Rima’s approach is simple: students, teachers, staff, and families deserve to know how decisions are being made — and they deserve a real voice in those decisions.

Putting Students and Educators First

For Rima, accountability isn’t an end in itself. It’s about building stronger public schools.

She’s committed to stronger financial oversight, responsible budgeting, fair contracts for teachers and staff, and protecting classroom resources.

Rima also wants Ann Arbor schools to close opportunity and achievement gaps while expanding support for students’ academic success and well-being.

And she believes educators must be treated as partners in that work — with competitive compensation, professional respect, and a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their classrooms.

Every Student Deserves the Opportunity to Thrive

Rima’s own life shapes the way she approaches public education.

As the daughter of refugees, she understands how profoundly access to opportunity can change the trajectory of a child and a family.

That’s why she believes schools must be places where every student feels seen, supported, and able to succeed.

She is fighting for educational equity, inclusive schools, stronger student support, and decision-making that reflects the experiences of students, educators, families, and the broader community.

Experienced Leadership for Ann Arbor’s Public Schools

School board elections matter.

The people we elect make decisions about the classrooms where our children learn, the educators who teach them, the resources available to students, and the future of public education in our communities.

Rima Mohammad has shown that she’s willing to ask hard questions, challenge the status quo, demand transparency, and fight for students and educators.

She’s an educator who believes deeply in public education. A parent who understands what’s at stake for families. A scientist who believes decisions should be grounded in evidence. And an experienced school board leader ready to keep pushing Ann Arbor Public Schools forward.

Let’s keep a strong progressive voice for students, educators, accountability, and public education on the Ann Arbor School Board.

When we organize, we win.
