Katy Padilla Stout for Congress in Texas’ 23rd District
Our Revolution is proud to endorse Katy Padilla Stout for Congress in Texas’ 23rd District — a lifelong Texan, former public school teacher, attorney, and mother of four whose campaign is focused on lowering costs, investing in children and families, expanding healthcare, and protecting fundamental rights.
Katy was born and raised in South Texas and comes from a working-class family. Raised by a single mother, she traces her roots to a father and grandparents who were migrant farmworkers in South Texas. She says those experiences taught her firsthand about the challenges working families face and shaped her commitment to public service.
Before running for Congress, Katy built a career advocating for children and families. She earned a degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin, became a public school teacher, and later became an attorney working with children in the foster care system. Now, she’s running to bring that experience to Washington and become the first Congresswoman to represent TX-23.
Fighting for Working Families
At the center of Katy’s campaign is a simple idea: government should invest in the next generation instead of playing political games with their future.
Her campaign identifies the cost of living as a major priority and says she will fight to make life more affordable for families across South and West Texas. Her platform also centers healthcare, universal pre-K, reproductive rights, voting rights, immigration, climate change, and preventing gun violence.
Katy is also running as a champion for public education. As a former teacher and mother, she brings firsthand experience with Texas schools to a campaign that puts children and families at the center of its agenda. Her campaign calls for universal pre-K, arguing that investing early in children can help give every kid a stronger start.
And in a district that stretches across South and West Texas, Katy is standing up for the communities and natural resources that make the region unique — including opposing a border wall through Big Bend.
A Mom on a Mission for TX-23
Katy describes herself as “a mom on a mission” to restore honesty and integrity to TX-23. Her campaign brings together her experience as a teacher, attorney, advocate, and parent with a commitment to making government work for the families who too often get left behind.
Texas’ 23rd District encompasses 27 counties and hundreds of communities across South and West Texas, making it the largest congressional district in the state. Katy is running to give those communities a voice in Washington focused on their schools, healthcare, economic security, rights, and future.
When we organize, we win.
