We’re proud to celebrate the re-election of Larry Krasner as Philadelphia’s District Attorney. The progressive hero secured his third Democratic primary win, winning over 60% of the vote and all but ensuring another four years of reform-focused leadership.

Why This Win Matters

Since taking office in 2018, Krasner has consistently used his position to pursue justice—not prosecution:

  • Fewer incarcerations, safer communities: Under his leadership, Philadelphia’s jail population has been slashed nearly in half, while crime rates continue to fall.
  • Prosecutorial reform in action: Krasner’s office has eliminated cash bail for many nonviolent offenses, dropped minor felony charges like marijuana possession, and aggressively prosecuted police misconduct.
  • Accountability through innovation: His DA’s office created a Conviction Integrity Unit that has exonerated dozens of innocent people. It also launched a unit to tackle quality-of-life issues—including prosecuting dumping of household waste and tires.

Standing Strong Against the Right-Wing Backlash

Krasner’s victory came despite targeted attacks from Republicans and former President Trump—and after surviving a failed impeachment attempt by state lawmakers.

His campaign drew strength from small-dollar donations and grassroots organizing. In his victory speech, Krasner proclaimed:

“They can come for Philly, but I’m not backing down.”

This Victory is a Win for Progressive Prosecution

While reform prosecutors in other cities have lost ground under conservative pressure, Krasner’s win—driven by strong support among Black voters and progressives—shows that people power still works. It’s a reminder that local organizing and community engagement can beat back authoritarian and punitive agendas.

What Comes Next?

Krasner will enter the general election unopposed—giving him the green light to keep building a more equitable, accountable justice system in Philadelphia.

This victory is a testament to all of us: when we organize, we win.

Congratulations, Larry Krasner. Keep leading the fight for real justice.
