Patrick Roath for Congress in Massachusetts’ 8th District
Our Revolution is proud to endorse Patrick Roath for Congress in Massachusetts’ 8th District.
Patrick is a lawyer, voting rights advocate, and democracy reformer running to bring new progressive leadership to Congress — and prove that government can still deliver for working people.
For Patrick, defending democracy isn’t an abstract talking point. He’s already done the work.
As a longtime leader with Common Cause Massachusetts, Patrick helped lead successful efforts to expand voting access, increase government transparency, and strengthen accountability on Beacon Hill. His work helped secure automatic voter registration and universal vote-by-mail for millions of Massachusetts residents.
Now, he’s ready to take that fight to Washington.
Patrick is running at a moment when working families across Greater Boston and the South Shore are being squeezed by the soaring costs of housing, healthcare, and raising a family. His campaign is built around tackling those costs head-on while confronting corruption and strengthening our democracy.
That means going big on affordability.
Patrick is calling for ambitious federal action to build millions of affordable homes, direct assistance for first-time homebuyers, and solutions to the childcare crisis making it increasingly difficult for working families to stay in Massachusetts.
He’s also fighting for reproductive freedom and has pledged to support federal legislation protecting abortion rights nationwide.
And Patrick understands that childcare, public education, and organized labor are essential to strong communities. He supports affordable childcare, universal pre-K, increased federal funding for special education, and strong workforce and vocational opportunities for students.
But what makes Patrick especially exciting is that his campaign reflects the kind of democracy he’s spent his career fighting for.
He refuses corporate PAC money.
Patrick believes real political independence means answering to people instead of powerful interests — and he’s demonstrating that a grassroots campaign can compete without relying on corporate checks.
That same willingness to challenge entrenched power is at the heart of why he’s running.
Patrick believes this moment demands leaders prepared to stand up to authoritarianism and corruption while offering people something better: a government capable of lowering costs, expanding opportunity, protecting fundamental freedoms, and delivering tangible improvements in people’s lives.
His own path has prepared him for that fight.
Patrick has served as an aide to Governor Deval Patrick, worked in the Obama-Biden White House, represented the United States as a Fulbright cultural ambassador teaching English at an Islamic boarding school in rural Malaysia, fought for immigrant families seeking asylum from persecution, and spent years working to make Massachusetts democracy more open and accountable.
Now he wants to put that experience to work for the people of Massachusetts’ 8th District.
This is what building the progressive pipeline is all about: electing leaders who know how to organize, challenge entrenched power, and turn progressive values into real change.
Let’s send a democracy reformer and working-family champion to Congress.
When we organize, we win.
