Jack Richardson: Taking Local Victories to Beacon Hill

Jack Richardson is running on a record of getting things done.

On the Falmouth Select Board, Jack helped deliver tangible wins for year-round residents while taking bold action on climate and civil rights.

He led the board to pass a 10% residential tax exemption, saving year-round residents an average of $400 annually. He helped halt a planned development and put the Long Pond Watershed into permanent conservation. And he led the effort to ban ICE from town property without a judicial warrant, while securing funding for a Portuguese-speaking social worker.

Now Jack is running to bring that record to Beacon Hill and deliver for Bourne, Falmouth, and Mashpee.

At a moment when families are struggling with the cost of living and communities need leaders willing to stand up for their values, Jack has already demonstrated what effective progressive leadership can accomplish.

Evan MacKay: A Union Organizer Who Knows How to Take On Entrenched Power

Evan MacKay has taken on powerful institutions before — and won.

A union leader and organizer, Evan helped create the Harvard Graduate Students Union with the UAW when workers were being paid minimum wage and facing sexual harassment. After being elected president of the union, Evan helped secure mid-contract raises that skeptics said couldn’t be won.

Evan also took on entrenched corruption within the broader UAW, fighting for stronger internal democracy, transparency, and a union accountable to its members.

Now they want to bring that same fighting spirit to Beacon Hill.

Evan is running to make the State House more transparent, accountable, and responsive to working people — with public votes, stronger public records laws, and reforms that prevent popular legislation from being buried behind closed doors.

Their vision also includes stronger worker protections, affordable housing and care, an end to state collaboration with ICE, and ambitious action on climate and transportation.

Evan knows that changing government requires more than having the right values. It requires being willing to challenge the people and institutions standing in the way.

Mike Connolly: A Progressive Fighter Who Delivers

Mike Connolly has spent his time in the State House proving that you can challenge Beacon Hill leadership and still deliver real results.

Mike is a community organizer and proud progressive whose commitment to economic and social justice comes from personal experience. He was raised in public housing by a single mother, spent time in foster care, and benefited from Head Start and other public programs before going on to college and law school.

That experience has shaped his belief that everyone deserves the same support and opportunity that helped him succeed.

In the State House, Mike helped win a $15 minimum wage and Paid Family and Medical Leave, helped pass comprehensive criminal justice reform, and worked to protect and expand reproductive freedom.

He also helped keep the Green Line Extension and Community Path Extension moving when key elements of the project were at risk — infrastructure that now connects communities across Somerville and the region.

Today, Mike is focused on the affordability emergency facing working people, protecting immigrant communities and constitutional rights from the Trump agenda, and making state government actually work for the people it serves.

And Mike isn’t afraid to challenge his own party when he believes Beacon Hill isn’t doing enough.

That combination — progressive conviction and the ability to turn it into results — is exactly what we need more of in our state legislatures.

Erika Uyterhoeven, Daniel Lander for Massachusetts State Senate

Our Revolution is proud to endorse two great progressives for Massachusetts State Senate: Erika Uyterhoeven in the 2nd Middlesex District and Daniel Lander in the Suffolk & Middlesex District.

We need progressives in the State Senate who are ready to challenge entrenched power, make Massachusetts more affordable, and turn our shared values into action.

Erika Uyterhoeven has already shown she knows how to do exactly that.

A three-term State Representative, former antitrust economist, and daughter of immigrants, Erika has earned a reputation as a fighter for transparency and working people.

She helped force Beacon Hill votes into the open — and used that transparency to help stop legislation benefiting corporate polluters. When a $37 million corporate tax break was slipped into a supplemental budget, Erika helped mobilize legislators, unions, and community organizations to defeat it.

And her record of delivering goes much further.

Erika helped win paid family and medical leave, supported the Fair Share Amendment that put a surtax on incomes over $1 million to fund schools and transportation, helped protect abortion access after the fall of Roe, and wrote legislation ending the predatory practice of forcing renters to pay broker fees for brokers they didn’t hire.

Now she’s running for State Senate to take that fight even further — lowering energy bills while investing in clean energy, protecting immigrant communities from federal overreach, strengthening reproductive justice, and making Beacon Hill more accountable to the people.

Erika knows how to take on powerful interests — and win.

Daniel Lander is running because he believes Massachusetts can do better, too.

Daniel grew up in the Suffolk & Middlesex district and has spent his career fighting for justice and stronger communities. His work has ranged from helping wrongfully convicted people rebuild their lives and working with families on the future of their neighborhoods to fighting for LGBTQ+ rights. He has also worked alongside progressive leaders including Senator Elizabeth Warren, Stacey Abrams, and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

Now he wants to bring that experience to Beacon Hill.

Daniel is running straight at Massachusetts’ affordability crisis.

Daniel wants to invest in affordable social housing, fix out-of-date regulations, and protect renters. He also wants to transform public transportation with 24-hour bus service, expand Bluebikes, and make regional rail a reality.

He’s also ready to stand up to the Trump administration — including fighting to keep ICE out of schools and protecting Massachusetts’ universities, workers, and knowledge economy.

Daniel’s campaign is rooted in the belief that government should solve problems for ordinary people. Whether it’s making housing affordable, improving the T, or making it easier to open a neighborhood restaurant or small business, Daniel’s running to make Massachusetts a place where working people can build a good life.

Progressive power isn’t built only in Washington. It’s built state by state and community by community — by electing leaders willing to challenge corporate power, stand with working people, and turn progressive ideas into policies that directly improve people’s lives.

Tara Jacobs for Massachusetts Governor’s Council District 8

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Tara Jacobs for re-election to the Massachusetts Governor’s Council in District 8.

Some of the most consequential decisions in government happen far from the spotlight. Tara Jacobs is making sure working people and communities across Western Massachusetts have a voice in those decisions.

Since joining the Governor’s Council in 2023, Tara has brought a clear progressive mission to the job: make the justice system more equitable, accountable, transparent, and responsive to the people it serves.

The Governor’s Council has enormous influence over Massachusetts’ justice system, including confirming judges, clerk magistrates, Parole Board members, and considering pardons and commutations. Tara believes those decisions should be informed not only by what happens inside a courtroom, but by what people experience in their communities.

And she has put that philosophy into action.

Tara has actively recruited candidates to fill judicial vacancies across Western Massachusetts, helping bring forward judges who understand the real-world issues that can bring people into the justice system — including trauma, substance misuse, mental health challenges, cognitive development, and other societal struggles.

She has also worked to expand access to justice and confront bias from the bench, while opening up a process that too often feels inaccessible to ordinary people.

Tara has hosted public forums explaining how executive clemency works and encouraged people who could benefit from a pardon or commutation to apply. She has brought confirmation hearings into local communities and worked to help Western Massachusetts residents better understand how judicial nominations work.

That commitment to accessibility reflects Tara’s larger vision for the office: justice belongs to all of us.

Tara isn’t a lawyer. She’s a social psychologist and community organizer who believes the people affected by our justice system deserve a meaningful voice in shaping it. She listens, brings communities into the process, and approaches the work with an understanding that a fair justice system must be compassionate, unbiased, and respectful.

And she has never forgotten where she comes from.

Tara represents communities across Western Massachusetts — from the Berkshires and Hill Towns to the Pioneer Valley, Greater Springfield, and North Quabbin — and has made regional equity central to her work. She is fighting to ensure Western Massachusetts has a seat at the table when decisions are made about the courts and boards that shape people’s lives.

Before joining the Governor’s Council, Tara served her community on the North Adams School Committee and as chair of the Trustees of the North Adams Public Library. She also served on the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women and the Northern Berkshire Local Cultural Council.

Throughout it all, her values have remained clear: social, racial, gender, geographic, economic, and environmental equity should matter in the decisions government makes.

This is what progressive governing looks like at the state and local level.

It means bringing democracy into institutions too many people don’t even know they have a voice in. It means challenging systemic injustice, demanding transparency, and making sure government hears from the communities most affected by its decisions.

Jim McGovern for Congress in Massachusetts’ 2nd District

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Jim McGovern for re-election to Congress in Massachusetts’ 2nd District.

Jim McGovern is the kind of progressive fighter we need in Washington: unafraid to take on corporate power, relentless in the fight against hunger and poverty, and willing to stand up for human rights and peace — even when it means challenging the powerful.

And at a moment when Donald Trump and his allies are attacking working families and our democracy, Jim isn’t backing down.

Born and raised in Worcester, Jim has spent his career fighting for the people of Central and Western Massachusetts. In Congress, he has become a national leader on food security, human rights, campaign finance reform, social justice, and peace.

Jim believes nobody in the richest country on Earth should go hungry.

As co-chair of the House Hunger Caucus, he has made ending hunger a defining cause of his career. He has fought to strengthen nutrition programs at home and abroad and, every year, walks 43 miles through the Pioneer Valley to raise awareness and money to combat hunger in his own community.

He’s also taking on the Big Money corrupting our democracy.

Jim is one of Congress’ leading voices for overturning Citizens United and challenging corporate personhood. And he’s putting those values into practice: his campaign has pledged not to accept corporate PAC money.

Jim knows that democracy should belong to people — not whoever can write the biggest check.

He’s fighting for the economic security working families deserve, including Medicare for All, affordable housing, food assistance, and a government that invests in people rather than stripping away the programs families depend on.

And Jim has never been afraid to confront abuses of power.

Long before serving in Congress, he helped lead an investigation into the murders of six Jesuit priests, their housekeeper, and her daughter in El Salvador. The investigation found the Salvadoran military was implicated and helped change U.S. policy by tying future military aid to improvements in human rights.

That commitment to human dignity continues to guide him today.

Jim voted against the authorization for the Iraq War and became a leading congressional voice challenging the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And when the Trump administration escalated its immigration crackdown, Jim conducted an unannounced oversight visit to an ICE facility in Massachusetts to see the conditions firsthand. He has called for ICE to be abolished.

That’s what it means to use political power to fight for people.

Jim understands that defeating the far right isn’t enough. We need a progressive vision that gives people something to fight for — healthcare, affordable housing, economic security, human rights, democracy, and a government that works for everyone.

And this November, Jim is clear about the stakes: taking back Congress so it can once again serve as a check on Trump and his administration.

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Jeromie Whalen for Congress in Massachusetts’ 1st District.

Jeromie is a public school teacher, union member, and lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts who believes it’s time for working people — not corporations and wealthy donors — to have the loudest voice in Washington.

For more than a decade, Jeromie has been a high school teacher, helping young people develop the tools they need to succeed and make a difference in the world. He’s also a proud member of the Northampton Association of School Employees, where he has served as Communications Director and as a union delegate.

Now, he’s ready to take that fight for working people to Congress.

Jeromie is running on a bold progressive agenda built around a simple principle: people over profit.

He supports Medicare for All because he believes healthcare should be guaranteed to every American. He wants to cap prescription drug prices, dramatically expand mental health and preventative care, and improve pay and working conditions for nurses and frontline healthcare workers.

For Jeromie, that fight is deeply personal. His campaign speaks openly about losing his brother Christopher during a battle with mental illness after watching him struggle to get the care he needed. It’s an experience that strengthened Jeromie’s conviction that no family should be denied healthcare because they can’t afford it.

As a teacher, Jeromie also knows that investing in public education means investing in our future. He’s fighting to fully fund public schools, raise teacher pay, provide universal Pre-K, and make public community college and vocational education tuition-free.

And he understands that working people need more power on the job.

Jeromie supports the PRO Act, card-check recognition, stronger protections against union busting, collective bargaining rights for public employees, and expanded labor rights for gig and misclassified workers.

He’s just as clear about who should pay for the investments our communities need.

Jeromie wants to lower the tax burden on working- and middle-class people while making millionaires and billionaires pay more. His campaign proposes a new cost-of-living exemption from federal income taxes, higher taxes on ultra-high incomes, and closing loopholes wealthy Americans use to avoid paying their fair share.

And Jeromie isn’t interested in asking corporate America for permission.

He has pledged to reject corporate and corporate PAC contributions. He supports overturning Citizens United and banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks. Long before running for Congress, Jeromie says he was already organizing against the influence of PAC money because he understood how destructive unlimited corporate spending could be to our democracy.

That independence matters because Jeromie is willing to take on the powerful interests making life more expensive.

He wants to crack down on corporate landlords, expand affordable housing, strengthen rental assistance, and restore the ability of communities to pursue rent stabilization. He supports raising the federal minimum wage and tying it to the real cost of living.

His vision is also rooted specifically in the needs of Western Massachusetts.

Jeromie wants to fully fund PVTA bus service and move it toward a cleaner fleet, make West-East Rail a reality, expand rural broadband, support local farmers and rural businesses, and strengthen the small businesses that keep communities across the district alive.

And he’s ready to fight the climate crisis with the urgency it demands. Jeromie supports the Green New Deal, ending fossil fuel subsidies, making corporate polluters pay for the damage they cause, and investing in clean energy and climate-resilient infrastructure while creating union jobs.

Patrick is a lawyer, voting rights advocate, and democracy reformer running to bring new progressive leadership to Congress — and prove that government can still deliver for working people.

For Patrick, defending democracy isn’t an abstract talking point. He’s already done the work.

As a longtime leader with Common Cause Massachusetts, Patrick helped lead successful efforts to expand voting access, increase government transparency, and strengthen accountability on Beacon Hill. His work helped secure automatic voter registration and universal vote-by-mail for millions of Massachusetts residents.

Ayanna has never been interested in politics as usual. She believes the people closest to the pain should be closest to the power — and she has built her career around bringing the voices, experiences, and demands of people too often ignored in Washington directly into the halls of power.

That’s the kind of bold, movement-driven leadership we need more of in Congress.

Ayanna is an advocate, policymaker, activist, and survivor who has spent her career breaking barriers. In 2009, she became the first woman of color elected to the Boston City Council in its 100-year history. In 2018, voters sent her to Washington, making her the first woman of color elected to Congress from Massachusetts.

But Ayanna has always understood that making history matters most when you use that power to make change.

And she has.

Ayanna has fought for Medicare for All and against the deep disparities embedded in our healthcare system. She has championed housing as a human right, fought for greater federal investment in affordable housing, and helped successfully extend the federal eviction moratorium three times during the pandemic.

She spent years pushing for student debt cancellation, working alongside borrowers, advocates, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and congressional allies to press for action that ultimately delivered billions of dollars in debt relief.

Ayanna is fighting for reproductive freedom and abortion access, a Green New Deal, strong public schools and better pay for teachers, a humane immigration system, and safe, reliable public transportation.

And she has brought a transformative vision of justice to Congress.

Ayanna introduced the People’s Justice Guarantee, a framework for fundamentally reimagining a criminal legal system that has disproportionately harmed Black and brown communities. As a survivor of sexual violence herself, she has also made addressing violence and trauma a central part of her work, fighting for policies that create pathways to justice and healing.

Her progressive values are delivering tangible results back home, too. Ayanna’s campaign says she has helped deliver more than $35 million in funding to Massachusetts’ 7th District for community health centers, transit projects, workforce training, climate justice, and other community priorities.

That combination matters: bold progressive vision paired with the ability to deliver for the people you represent.

At a moment when powerful forces are trying to roll back reproductive freedom, divide our communities, undermine our democracy, and make working people pay the price, we need leaders who aren’t afraid to fight for transformational change.
