Chela Garcia Irlando for Colorado State Senate!

Graciela “Chela” Garcia Irlando is running for Colorado State Senate District 34 with a bold progressive agenda: take on corporate power, make housing and healthcare affordable, protect workers, and put people and the planet ahead of profits.

A longtime environmental justice advocate, nonprofit leader, and community organizer, Chela has spent more than a decade fighting for communities too often left out of decisions that shape their lives. As Executive Director of the Next 100 Coalition, she has worked to advance environmental justice and expand access to public lands and conservation opportunities.

Now, she’s bringing that organizing experience to the fight for a Colorado that works for working families — not corporate landlords, wealthy investors, and powerful special interests.

Taking on Corporate Power and the Housing Crisis

Chela believes housing is a human right, not a commodity for Wall Street speculation.

She’s campaigning for rent stabilization, stronger tenant protections, affordable housing, and restrictions on private equity firms buying up single-family homes. She also supports cracking down on corporate landlords using algorithms to inflate rents and expanding pathways to homeownership for working families.

Her platform also calls for universal, publicly funded healthcare, lower medical costs, and stronger protections against medical debt — because access to care shouldn’t depend on your paycheck.

A Champion for Workers and Environmental Justice

Chela is running on a pro-worker agenda that includes strengthening unions, expanding collective bargaining rights, and ensuring publicly funded projects create good-paying union jobs.

She’s also calling for a Colorado Green New Deal that connects clean energy investments with economic justice, worker protections, and healthier communities.

That means holding polluters accountable, protecting clean air and water, investing in renewable energy, and ensuring communities burdened by industrial pollution have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their health.

Chela also supports stronger water conservation requirements for resource-intensive industries, including AI data centers, and expanding affordable public transportation.

Building a Colorado That Works for Everyone

From fully funding public schools and universal childcare to protecting reproductive freedom and expanding economic opportunity, Chela’s campaign brings together some of the biggest fights facing Colorado families.

Her agenda reflects a central belief: government should serve the people who live and work in our communities, not corporations seeking bigger profits.

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Graciela “Chela” Garcia Irlando for Colorado State Senate District 34.
