Briana Urbina for New Carrollton MD Mayor!
New Carrollton, Maryland, is holding a special mayoral election on Monday, November 9 — and progressive City Councilmember Briana Urbina is bringing a vision of more transparent, inclusive, and community-driven government to the race.
A mother of two, attorney, and former educator, Urbina has called New Carrollton home since 2014. She has served on the City Council since 2021, including two years as Council Chair, and brings a background spanning education, public policy, law, and progressive political activism.
Urbina has been explicit about her commitment to progressive local government. As Council Chair, she outlined priorities including greater transparency at City Hall, better language access for residents, youth engagement, more accessible parks, and community partnerships to address public safety.
Her approach emphasizes bringing residents directly into decisions that shape their neighborhoods. She has advocated for making city information easier to understand, addressing longstanding challenges such as street parking, and developing measurable goals informed by conversations with community members.
Beyond City Hall, Urbina has served on the Prince George’s Democratic Central Committee and participated in Latino Democrats Prince George’s County.
The November 9 special election will determine who completes the current mayoral term, which runs through May 2027. It comes at a consequential moment for New Carrollton, with questions about government accountability, public services, and the city’s future at the center of the race.
When we organize, we win.
