People-Powered Slate in Maryland

Real change doesn’t just happen in Washington — it’s built from the ground up.

From state legislatures to county councils to school boards, down-ballot races shape the policies that impact our daily lives: housing, education, workers’ rights, public safety, and economic justice.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to endorse a powerful slate of candidates across Maryland — leaders who are ready to take on corporate power, fight for working families, and deliver real results in their communities.

Building Power at the Local Level

Our Revolution is also proud to support candidates stepping up in critical local races across Maryland:

  • Victor Ramirez — Prince George’s County Council (D2)
  • Imara Crooms — Prince George’s County Council (D9)
  • Jamie McGonnigal — Prince George’s County Board of Education (D3)

These leaders are working to strengthen public services, expand opportunity, and ensure local government is responsive to the communities it serves.

Leading for the Future in Montgomery County

A nationally recognized progressive leader, Jawando has championed education equity, criminal justice reform, and youth opportunity, building a platform centered on fairness and inclusion.
  • Marc Elrich — Montgomery County Council At-Large

  • Josie Caballero — Montgomery County Council At-Large
Josie Caballero is a labor and community advocate focused on worker protections, equity, and inclusive economic growth, bringing a people-first vision to local government.

Why Down-Ballot Races Matter

In a state like Maryland, where Democrats dominate, the primary is often the election — and that means the real choice is between different visions for the future.

Will we elect candidates backed by corporate interests and the status quo?
Or leaders rooted in grassroots movements, ready to deliver bold change?

These down-ballot races are where we build the foundation for real progress — from passing stronger labor protections to investing in public education and holding powerful interests accountable.

Maryland has the opportunity to lead — but only if we elect leaders who will fight for working people at every level.

When we organize, we win.

Jamie Raskin for Re-Election to Congress

By ALL, Endorsement, MD

Jamie Raskin for Re-Election to Congress

At a time when our democracy is under attack and working people are demanding bold action on economic justice, climate, and civil rights, we need leaders who will stand firm — no matter the pressure.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to endorse Congressman Jamie Raskin for re-election.

Jamie Raskin has become a national leader in the fight to defend our democracy.

A former constitutional law professor, Raskin brought his deep expertise — and moral clarity — to Congress, where he has been a leading voice against authoritarianism and corruption. He served as lead impeachment manager during Donald Trump’s second impeachment, and he’s been a consistent champion for working people and progressive change.

As a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, he has backed policies that align with the core values of the political revolution:

  • Medicare for All
  • Bold climate action
  • Strong labor rights
  • Voting rights and democratic reforms
  • Economic justice

Rep. Raskin has also been a vocal advocate for student debt relief, campaign finance reform, and getting big money out of politics — recognizing that our democracy cannot function when it’s dominated by billionaires and corporate interests.

He understands that the fight for democracy is inseparable from the fight for economic justice.

He’s consistently taken on corporate influence and defended the role of government in serving the public good — not private profit. Whether it’s pushing for stronger oversight, supporting antitrust action, or backing reforms to curb the influence of big money in elections, Raskin has been a reliable ally in the fight to rebalance power toward working people.

Before Congress, Raskin served in the Maryland State Senate, where he built a reputation as a progressive reformer — passing legislation to expand civil rights, protect consumers, and strengthen democratic participation.

Throughout his career, he has stayed closely connected to grassroots movements — listening to constituents, engaging with organizers, and using his platform to amplify the voices of those too often left out of the political process.

Jamie Raskin represents the kind of leadership this moment demands.

Izola Shaw for Montgomery County Council District 3

By ALL, Endorsement, MD

Izola Shaw for Montgomery County Council District 3

At a time when working families are being squeezed by rising costs and corporate influence, Our Revolution is proud to endorse Izola Shaw for Montgomery County Council District 3.

Zola is a proven progressive leader, organizer, and public servant who has spent her career fighting for working people — not the powerful.

As a Rockville City Councilmember, Izola has delivered real results: advancing affordable housing investments, championing rent stabilization, and increasing public engagement in local government.

Zola’s entry in politics began by organizing workers to win a higher minimum wage for workers in Montgomery County. Like many other federal workers, she was fired by the Trump administration last May, along with 150 of her coworkers.

Her experience in public service goes beyond government agencies, serving on numerous county boards and task forces focused on women’s rights, social justice, voting rights and food security.

As a commissioner on the county’s Housing Opportunities Commission, Zola helps oversee a $400 million budget to build, preserve, and provide affordable housing for tens of thousands of residents.

She has also been a leader on racial and economic justice — helping lead the passage of Montgomery County’s Racial Equity and Social Justice Act and building the infrastructure to ensure government policies serve the most vulnerable.

Izola’s campaign is grounded in the belief that government must work for everyday people — fighting for affordable housing, strong public schools, good jobs, and equitable communities.

And she’s not new to our movement.

Izola has been part of the broader progressive organizing ecosystem aligned with Our Revolution — working alongside grassroots groups, advancing racial equity, and building people-powered change in Montgomery County.

This is exactly the kind of leadership we need right now.

Izola Shaw understands that progress isn’t given — it’s won. And she has spent her career organizing, delivering, and standing up to power to make it happen.

At Our Revolution, we’re proud to stand with candidates who are rooted in the grassroots and committed to bold, people-first change.

Izola Shaw is that leader — and we’re proud to endorse her.

Wala Blegay for Congress in MD-05

By ALL, Endorsement, MD

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Wala Blegay for Congress in Maryland’s 5th District, where she is running to bring bold progressive leadership to the seat long held by establishment figure Steny Hoyer.

Wala is no stranger to the struggle, and she has spent her career fighting for working families and healthcare justice. As a labor rights attorney, public servant, and Prince George’s At Large County Council Member, she has fought to expand economic opportunity, protect workers, and strengthen public services.

And, she served as a Maryland state delegate for Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, helping advance the political revolution that energized millions of Americans demanding a government that works for the many, not the few.

Blegay has built her career standing up for communities too often ignored by the political establishment.

Her leadership reflects the values that Our Revolution supporters organize around every day: economic justice, healthcare for all, strong public education, and real accountability for corporations and political elites.

Now she’s running for Congress to give Maryland’s 5th District the representation it deserves, offering voters a clear choice: more status quo politics that prioritize corporate power, or a bold progressive vision centered on working people.

Blegay’s campaign is rooted in the belief that our democracy works best when everyday people — not corporate lobbyists and big donors — have a seat at the table. She understands that families are facing rising costs and barriers to opportunity, and she’s committed to fighting for policies that deliver real relief and long-term change.

At a time when our democracy is under threat and working families are struggling to make ends meet, we need leaders who will challenge entrenched power and stand unapologetically with the people.

Wala Blegay is that leader.

Our Revolution is proud to support her campaign and the grassroots movement behind it.

Together, we can elect a new generation of progressive leadership and continue building the political revolution that Bernie Sanders inspired — one that puts people over profit and delivers for the many, not the few. ✊

Victory: Aisha Braveboy

By ALL, Endorsement, MD

Prince George’s County made history — and Our Revolution members helped make it happen. Aisha Braveboy has been elected County Executive, and that’s a massive win for working people, not corporate power.

Aisha is the real deal. As State’s Attorney, she took on a broken criminal justice system, expanded diversion programs, and fought for fairness and transparency. She stood with our communities against corruption and refused to let the powerful play by their own rules.

Now, she’s bringing that same fearless leadership to the County Executive’s office — ready to:

  • Fight housing injustice and expand affordable homes.
  • Create union jobs and grow local businesses.
  • Fully fund public schools instead of padding developer profits.
  • Defend democracy and civil rights at every turn.

She didn’t get here by cozying up to oligarchs or taking billionaire checks. She got here because we had her back — knocking doors, making calls, and turning out the vote.

This is what people-powered politics looks like.
This is how we beat the establishment.

When we organize, we win!
