Bold Progressive Slate for California’s Future

California has long been seen as a laboratory for progressive change — but whether that promise is realized depends on who we elect at every level of government.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to support a powerful slate of candidates for the California State Assembly and Senate — leaders who are ready to take on corporate power, fight for working people, and deliver real results.

Sean Frame — State Senate District 6

Sean Frame is stepping up with a grassroots, people-powered campaign focused on affordability, accountability, and building a government that works for everyday Californians. His campaign reflects the growing demand for new leadership that isn’t tied to corporate interests.

Fatima Iqbal-Zubair — Assembly District 65

Fatima Iqbal-Zubair is a community organizer and advocate who has built her campaign around economic justice, healthcare access, and uplifting working-class communities. She represents a new generation of leadership rooted in service, equity, and grassroots organizing.

Jackie Elward — Assembly District 12

Jackie Elward brings a community-first approach to her campaign, focused on transparency, accountability, and ensuring that public institutions serve people — not powerful insiders. She is part of a wave of candidates pushing for more responsive and equitable governance.

Chris Kluwe — Assembly District 72

Chris Kluwe, a former NFL player turned outspoken activist, has been a vocal advocate for civil liberties, LGBTQ+ rights, and free speech. He has consistently used his platform to challenge injustice and is running to bring that same courage and independence to Sacramento.

Liz Ortega — Assembly District 20

Liz Ortega is a labor leader and longtime advocate for workers’ rights. As a union leader, she has fought for fair wages, safe working conditions, and economic justice — and she’s bringing that fight to the legislature.

Alex Lee — Assembly District 24

Alex Lee has already proven himself as one of the most outspoken progressive voices in the California Legislature. A democratic socialist and Medicare for All champion, he has led on housing justice, student debt relief, and expanding the social safety net.

Ash Kalra — Assembly District 25

Ash Kalra is a national leader in the fight for single-payer healthcare, authoring California’s Medicare for All legislation. A civil rights attorney and longtime progressive champion, he has consistently taken on corporate interests and fought for workers, immigrants, and marginalized communities.

Building Power Down the Ballot

Real change doesn’t just happen in Congress — it starts in our communities.

That’s why we’re proud to endorse a powerful slate of local leaders in California who are stepping up to fight for working people:

  • Maria Pacheco (Fresno County Supervisor D1) – community advocate focused on equity, public safety reform, and investing in underserved neighborhoods
  • Neil Polzin (Covina City Treasurer) – bringing transparency, fiscal accountability, and responsible stewardship of public funds
  • Flo Cofer (Sacramento County Supervisor D1) – community leader and public safety advocate working to build safer, more equitable communities
  • Jocelyn Sida (Fontana Mayor) – grassroots leader focused on working families, economic opportunity, and responsive local government
  • Tamisha Torres Walker (Antioch City Council D1) – violence prevention leader and equity advocate centering youth, safety, and community investment
  • Monica Wilson (Antioch City Council D2) – educator and public servant committed to transparency, accountability, and community-first leadership

From city halls to county councils, these races shape our daily lives — and build the foundation for bigger progressive wins. ✊

And, we’re backing several amazing candidates for local school boards and state boards  — because these seats shape our children’s education, our tax system, and our communities.

  • Brandee Marckmann (SF Board of Education) — educator and founder of the SF Education Alliance, fighting privatization and supporting public schools
  • Samuel Sukaton (Board of Equalization, D1) — a progressive tax advocate working to make corporations pay their share
  • Cody Petterson (Board of Equalization, D4) — focused on transparency and accountability in shaping fair tax policy
  • Shant Kevorkian (Glendale USD Board) — a community leader and parent advocate working to strengthen public schools
  • Nichelle Henderson (Superintendent of Public Instruction) — longtime public education advocate focused on equity, student outcomes, supporting educators

Let’s elect leaders who will put people first. ✊

Why These Races Matter

In a blue state like California, the primary is often the election — and that means the real choice is between different visions for the future of the Democratic Party.

Will we elect candidates backed by corporate interests and the status quo?
Or leaders rooted in grassroots movements, ready to deliver bold change?

Down-ballot races are where real power is built. They determine whether we can pass policies that make healthcare a human right, tackle the housing crisis, strengthen labor protections, and take on climate change at the scale required.

California can lead the nation — but only if we elect the strongest progressives possible.

These candidates represent the future of that fight.

When we organize, we win.

Lateefah Simon for Re-Election in CA-12

By ALL, CA, Endorsement

Lateefah Simon for Re-Election in CA-12

At a time when corporate power, rising costs, and political dysfunction are leaving working people behind, we need leaders who don’t just talk about change — they fight for it.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to endorse Congresswoman Lateefah Simon for re-election in California’s 12th District.

Lateefah Simon’s story is rooted in struggle, resilience, and organizing.

A lifelong Bay Area resident, civil rights advocate, and MacArthur “genius grant” recipient, Lateefah has spent decades fighting for communities that have been pushed to the margins — especially young people, women, and communities of color.

She first rose to national prominence as a youth organizer, leading the Young Women’s Freedom Center and transforming how the justice system supports young women impacted by incarceration.

From there, she helped shape criminal justice reform efforts, served on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Board, and led major racial justice philanthropy efforts — always centering equity and opportunity.

Today, she brings that same movement-driven leadership to Congress.

A Progressive Voice in Congress

Since taking office in 2025, Lateefah has aligned herself with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party — serving as a Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and fighting for policies that put working people first.

Her agenda reflects the core values of the political revolution:

  • Medicare for All and universal healthcare
  • A $15+ minimum wage and strong labor protections
  • Expanded safety net programs like Medicaid and food assistance
  • A federal jobs guarantee
  • Investments in affordable housing and transit equity

She has also been a strong advocate for criminal justice reform, reentry support, and policies that reduce mass incarceration.

Standing Up to Corporate Power

Lateefah has been clear: our government should serve people — not corporations.

She has taken on corporate polluters and supported bold climate action, earning backing from environmental justice organizations for her commitment to transitioning away from fossil fuels and protecting frontline communities.

She has also been outspoken in opposing excessive military spending and endless war, calling for a reorientation of federal resources toward healthcare, education, and community investment.

This is leadership that prioritizes people over profit.

Carrying Forward a Progressive Legacy

Lateefah represents a district long represented by the legendary Rep. Barbara Lee — and she is carrying forward that legacy of courage, independence, and principled leadership.

Like Barbara Lee, Lateefah is willing to stand up when it matters most — even when it’s not politically easy.

Her work in Congress — from supporting care workers to advancing protections for crime survivors — reflects a deep commitment to dignity, justice, and economic security for all.

Lateefah Simon isn’t just a member of Congress — she’s a movement leader — and we’re proud to stand behind her in this run for re-election.

Brandee Marckmann for San Francisco Board of Education

By ALL, CA, Endorsement

Brandee Marckmann for San Francisco Board of Education

At a time when public education is under attack — from budget cuts to privatization pressures — San Francisco needs leaders who will stand up for students, educators, and families.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to endorse Brandee Marckmann for the San Francisco Board of Education.

Brandee isn’t a career politician — she’s an educator, parent, and community organizer who has spent her life fighting to strengthen public schools.

A public school alum and former educator, Brandee began her career working in adult English as a Second Language programs — helping immigrant and working-class communities access opportunity through education.

She is also the founder of the San Francisco Education Alliance, a grassroots organization built to push back against school privatization and defend public education as a public good.

As a parent in the San Francisco Unified School District and a member of her child’s school site council, Brandee understands firsthand what students and families are facing — and she’s organizing to meet those needs.

Brandee’s campaign is rooted in the values of the progressive movement: strong public institutions, equity, and community-driven solutions.

She has earned the support of labor and progressive organizations, including SEIU and the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, reflecting broad grassroots backing.

Her work has consistently centered:

  • Defending public education from privatization
  • Expanding equity and access for underserved communities
  • Supporting immigrant families and multilingual learners
  • Building inclusive, community-led solutions for schools

This is leadership grounded in solidarity — not corporate interests.

A Bold Agenda for Students and Families

Brandee is running on a platform that directly addresses the challenges facing San Francisco schools:

  • Stop school closures that destabilize communities and reduce access to public education
  • Pay teachers on time and support educators, ensuring respect and stability for those in the classroom
  • Reduce class sizes so students can thrive and teachers can succeed

She also supports the development of community schools with wraparound services, recognizing that student success depends on meeting the full needs of families — from housing to healthcare to food security.

This is a vision of education that treats schools as the heart of the community — not a line item to be cut.

Through her organizing work, she has pushed back against efforts to privatize schools and divert resources away from public education, fighting to keep decision-making in the hands of communities.

In a moment when powerful interests are trying to reshape education for profit, Brandee is building a movement to protect and expand what belongs to all of us.

Jake Levine for Congress in California’s 32nd District

At a time when working people are demanding a new generation of leadership, Our Revolution is proud to endorse Jake Levine for Congress.

Jake Levine is a climate attorney and former White House official who has spent his career advancing clean energy, taking on corporate polluters, and delivering real results for working people.

He’s part of a new generation stepping up — bringing fresh urgency to the challenges facing Californians, from the rising cost of housing to the need for good-paying jobs and a livable climate.

Jake has worked at the highest levels of government — from the National Security Council to leading climate and development finance efforts — helping expand clean energy and build programs that create jobs while tackling the climate crisis. ()

And he’s running a campaign that reflects the values of our movement.

We’re proud to stand with him — and ready to help build the grassroots power needed to win.

Tom Steyer for Governor of California

By ALL, CA, Endorsement

Tom Steyer for Governor of California

At a critical moment for California, Our Revolution is proud to endorse Tom Steyer for governor.

Tom Steyer has stepped forward with a platform that is clearly aligned with the priorities of our movement — single-payer healthcare, taxing extreme wealth, bold climate action, and getting money out of politics. He didn’t just seek our endorsement — he engaged directly with our organizers and demonstrated a real commitment to a people-first agenda.

As Our Revolution Executive Director Joseph Geevarghese said:
“Tom Steyer understands that California’s affordability crisis is not inevitable — it’s the result of a political system shaped by concentrated wealth and corporate power at the expense of working people. At a moment when too many defend the status quo, Tom has taken a different path — challenging the very system that benefits people like him.”

Yes, Tom Steyer is a billionaire. But it matters what he is doing with that power: pushing for taxes on the wealthy, expanding universal programs, and dismantling corporate influence in our politics.

This is also about winning.

In a high-stakes race where Republicans could take the top spot, consolidating behind a candidate who is both values-aligned and building momentum is essential. Our organizers on the ground in California are seeing real energy around Steyer for Governor — and that grassroots engagement helped drive this decision.

Tom Steyer has spent years investing in climate action, youth organizing, voting rights, and holding polluters accountable. He’s been doing this work long before this campaign — and now he’s stepping up to lead at a moment that demands bold action.

This endorsement is part of a broader strategy to build power in California — a state that can lead the nation on policies like single-payer healthcare, economic justice, and climate action.

As Tom Steyer said:
“Our Revolution has done the hard, essential work of organizing and empowering progressive voters for a decade… I’m honored to receive this endorsement, and as Governor, I’ll work tirelessly to realize our shared vision of a California that works for working people.”

At a moment that demands bold leadership, we are backing the candidate who is stepping up with a clear, people-first agenda.

Tom Steyer is ready to deliver.

Aisha Wahab for Congress (CA-14)

By ALL, CA, Endorsement

Aisha Wahab for Congress (CA-14)

Our Revolution is proud to endorse State Senator Aisha Wahab for Congress in California’s 14th District — a bold, movement leader who has spent her career fighting for working people, tenants, and communities too often left behind.

Aisha Wahab’s story is one of resilience and purpose. Born to Afghan refugees and raised in the East Bay after time in foster care, she understands firsthand the struggles that so many families face. That lived experience has shaped her commitment to building an economy that works for everyone — not just the wealthy and well-connected.

In the California State Senate, Wahab has been a leading voice for affordability, workers’ rights, and housing justice. She has taken on powerful interests to expand tenant protections, lower costs for working families, and push back against corporate-driven policies that put profit over people.

Wahab’s progressive leadership is backed by a strong record. She has earned top marks from organizations like Planned Parenthood, labor unions, environmental groups, and healthcare advocates — reflecting her unwavering support for reproductive freedom, workers’ rights, climate action, and expanding access to care.

She has also broken barriers as the first Muslim and Afghan American elected to the California State Senate, bringing new voices and perspectives into government while fighting to make it more responsive to the people it serves.

At a time when too many politicians are beholden to corporate donors and political insiders, Aisha Wahab has consistently stood with working-class communities — taking on corporate monopolies, advocating for economic justice, and pushing for policies that center human dignity.

Now, she’s bringing that same fight to Congress.

California’s 14th District deserves a representative who will stand up to entrenched power, fight for affordability and justice, and deliver real results for working families. Aisha Wahab has the experience, the values, and the movement behind her to do just that.

Audrey Denney for Congress in CA-01

By ALL, CA, Endorsement

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Audrey Denney for Congress in California’s 1st Congressional District, a people-powered leader fighting to bring real representation to Northern California.

Audrey is not a career politician — she’s an educator, nonprofit leader, and rural advocate who has spent her career working directly with communities across the North State. And she is committed to fighting for policies that strengthen local economies, support family farmers, expand healthcare, and protect the environment for future generations.

From teaching at Chico State to leading nonprofit efforts that expand food security and strengthen rural communities, Audrey has built a reputation for putting people first and tackling the real challenges families face every day. She has spoken out forcefully against a political and economic system that serves billionaires and corporate greed while leaving everyday people behind.

Audrey is running a grassroots, people-powered campaign that rejects corporate PAC money and centers the voices of working people. And she is rooted in the values that power our movement: taking on corporate influence, investing in working families, and building an economy that works for everyone.

California’s 1st District deserves a representative who will fight for economic justice, defend democracy, and ensure our communities are not left behind. Audrey Denney has shown the courage, integrity, and commitment needed to take on entrenched power in Washington and fight to deliver real change.

Together, we can send another bold progressive voice to Congress — and continue building the movement for a government that puts people over profit. ✊

When we organize, we win.
