Brandee Marckmann for San Francisco Board of Education

At a time when public education is under attack — from budget cuts to privatization pressures — San Francisco needs leaders who will stand up for students, educators, and families.

That’s why Our Revolution is proud to endorse Brandee Marckmann for the San Francisco Board of Education.

Brandee isn’t a career politician — she’s an educator, parent, and community organizer who has spent her life fighting to strengthen public schools.

A public school alum and former educator, Brandee began her career working in adult English as a Second Language programs — helping immigrant and working-class communities access opportunity through education.

She is also the founder of the San Francisco Education Alliance, a grassroots organization built to push back against school privatization and defend public education as a public good.

As a parent in the San Francisco Unified School District and a member of her child’s school site council, Brandee understands firsthand what students and families are facing — and she’s organizing to meet those needs.

Brandee’s campaign is rooted in the values of the progressive movement: strong public institutions, equity, and community-driven solutions.

She has earned the support of labor and progressive organizations, including SEIU and the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, reflecting broad grassroots backing.

Her work has consistently centered:

  • Defending public education from privatization
  • Expanding equity and access for underserved communities
  • Supporting immigrant families and multilingual learners
  • Building inclusive, community-led solutions for schools

This is leadership grounded in solidarity — not corporate interests.

A Bold Agenda for Students and Families

Brandee is running on a platform that directly addresses the challenges facing San Francisco schools:

  • Stop school closures that destabilize communities and reduce access to public education
  • Pay teachers on time and support educators, ensuring respect and stability for those in the classroom
  • Reduce class sizes so students can thrive and teachers can succeed

She also supports the development of community schools with wraparound services, recognizing that student success depends on meeting the full needs of families — from housing to healthcare to food security.

This is a vision of education that treats schools as the heart of the community — not a line item to be cut.

Through her organizing work, she has pushed back against efforts to privatize schools and divert resources away from public education, fighting to keep decision-making in the hands of communities.

In a moment when powerful interests are trying to reshape education for profit, Brandee is building a movement to protect and expand what belongs to all of us.
