Our Revolution is proud to endorse Marsie Geldert-Murphey in Illinois Senate District 56 and Ben McAdams in Senate District 24 — two candidates ready to bring new leadership to Springfield and fight for an Illinois where working families can afford to live, thrive, and build a future.

Marsie Geldert-Murphey — Senate District 56

Marsie Geldert-Murphey is a builder — literally.

A civil engineer with more than 30 years of experience, Marsie has spent her career building the roads, bridges, and infrastructure communities depend on. Now, this political newcomer wants to put that experience to work building a stronger future for downstate Illinois.

Marsie understands that investing in infrastructure means creating good jobs and expanding economic opportunity. She wants smart, inclusive growth that allows young people to stay and succeed in their communities — while strengthening public schools, early childhood education, and school nutrition programs.

She’s also committed to protecting access to healthcare, including fighting for robust Medicaid funding and strengthening the healthcare workforce so families, seniors, children, and people with disabilities can get the care they need.

Marsie believes real change starts in our communities — by listening, bringing people together, and putting people and progress at the center of public policy.

Ben McAdams — Senate District 24

Ben McAdams is running with a bold progressive vision: healthcare and housing should be rights, working families deserve an economy that works for them, and corporations and the ultra-wealthy should pay their fair share.

A lifelong Illinois resident, Ben got his start in local activism and community organizing before studying public interest law and working with legal nonprofits to help people who couldn’t afford representation.

Ben believes healthcare is a human right and wants Illinois to invest in public healthcare, protect reproductive and mental healthcare, and defend communities from Medicaid cuts.

He also wants to shift the tax burden off working and middle-class families by making corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay more — including through a billionaire wealth tax, closing corporate tax loopholes, and taxing digital advertising by Big Tech.

On climate, Ben supports public investment toward a 100% green energy economy, regulating AI and data centers, and making polluters pay. He’s also committed to protecting immigrants from ICE overreach, defending LGBTQ+ rights and voting rights, and ensuring due process for everyone.

From affordable healthcare and good-paying jobs to climate action and economic justice, Ben is running to build an Illinois that works for everyday people — not just those with the most wealth and power.

Marsie and Ben bring different experiences to this fight, but they share a commitment to building an Illinois where government delivers for working people.

Demi Palecek for Illinois State House District 13

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Demi Palecek for Illinois State House District 13 — a working-class organizer, veteran, and community advocate running to take on entrenched power and make Springfield work for everyday people.

For Demi, the struggles facing working families aren’t abstract.

She started working as a teenager, washing dishes to help her family make ends meet, and later joined the military as a pathway out of poverty. Those experiences shaped a politics rooted in worker power, economic justice, and the belief that everyone deserves the security to build a good life.

And Demi has been organizing in her community long before running for office. She has organized mutual aid, stood with workers and tenants, fought for immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities, and defended transgender soldiers’ rights while serving in the Army National Guard.

Now, she’s ready to bring that fighting spirit to Springfield.

Taking on the Affordability Crisis

Demi believes housing is a human right — and she’s prepared to take on the corporate landlords and policies driving working people out of their neighborhoods.

She supports lifting Illinois’ statewide ban on rent control so communities can enact strong rent stabilization, establishing just-cause eviction protections, expanding public and permanently affordable housing, and strengthening protections for tenants.

She also understands that you can’t solve the affordability crisis without confronting economic inequality. Demi supports a living wage tied to inflation, stronger collective bargaining rights, easier pathways for workers to organize, and Project Labor Agreements that guarantee union jobs, prevailing wages, benefits, and strong safety standards on state-funded projects.

And she wants Illinois to move away from a tax system where working families shoulder too much of the burden. Demi supports progressive taxation that asks wealthy people to pay more so Illinois can invest in the public services everyone depends on.

Healthcare Is a Right

Demi is equally clear when it comes to healthcare: it should be a right, not a privilege.

She supports Medicare for All at the federal level while fighting to expand coverage in Illinois, lower prescription drug costs, strengthen community health centers, and rebuild healthcare infrastructure in working-class communities.

She’s also an unapologetic defender of reproductive freedom, supporting expanded access to abortion, contraception, fertility treatments, maternal healthcare, and other reproductive services — while protecting patients and providers from attacks coming from outside Illinois.

Building Working-Class Power

Demi’s vision for Illinois connects economic justice with climate justice.

She supports major public investment in renewable energy, green infrastructure, weatherization, and expanded public transit — investments that can tackle the climate crisis while creating good-paying union jobs. She wants polluters held accountable and clean air and water protected as basic rights.

She’s also committed to strong public schools, including universal pre-K, equitable funding, and keeping public dollars in public education rather than privatization.

Across these fights, Demi’s message is consistent: government should use its power to improve the lives of working people — not protect the profits and privilege of those already at the top.

That’s the kind of grassroots leadership Our Revolution is working to elect at every level of government.

Daniel Biss for Congress in Illinois’ 9th District

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Daniel Biss for Congress in Illinois’ 9th District — a proven progressive leader who has spent his career taking on entrenched power, delivering real change, and fighting for a government and an economy that work for working people.

A mathematician, community activist, former Illinois state legislator, and current mayor of Evanston, Daniel isn’t just someone who talks about progressive change — he has a record of making it happen.

In the Illinois legislature, Daniel helped pass protections for LGBTQ+ youth, major abortion rights legislation, retirement savings options for hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans, and stronger technology privacy protections. As mayor, he took on money and entrenched power to enact campaign finance reform and helped pass a first-in-the-state Healthy Buildings Ordinance to curb carbon emissions.

Now, Daniel is ready to take that fight to Washington.

His Future We Deserve Agenda takes direct aim at the concentration of corporate and billionaire power that has made life harder for working families. Daniel wants to strengthen antitrust enforcement, crack down on private equity abuse, end corporate tax breaks for companies that outsource jobs and exploit workers, cap credit card interest rates, expand tuition-free public college, and take on Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Big Tech, and Big Oil.

Daniel understands that economic inequality and political inequality go hand in hand. He supports making wealthy Americans pay their fair share, expanding Social Security benefits, protecting Medicare and Medicaid, and Medicare for All. He is also refusing corporate PAC money because he believes elected officials should answer to their constituents — not corporations and wealthy special interests.

And Daniel is serious about changing the rules that allow big money and corruption to dominate our democracy. He supports public matching funds for small-dollar campaign contributions, getting corporate money out of politics, banning members of Congress from trading stocks, ending the revolving door between Congress and lobbying, imposing an enforceable ethics code on the Supreme Court, and establishing 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices.

At a moment when Donald Trump is testing the limits of presidential power, Daniel is also prepared to fight back. His agenda calls for passing the No Kings Act to reject unlimited presidential immunity, restoring Congress’s authority, defending voting rights, protecting abortion and LGBTQ+ rights, and strengthening civil liberties nationwide.

Daniel has been organizing for progressive change since he was 25, when he spoke out against the Iraq War and began organizing for progressive candidates and causes. From the state legislature to Evanston City Hall, he has shown that progressive government can take on powerful interests and deliver results.

Now, he’s ready to bring that fight to Congress.
