A Lifetime of Public Service

Before serving as Attorney General, Keith represented Minnesotans in Congress for 12 years, where he championed consumer protections, workers’ rights, environmental justice, and civil rights. Earlier, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives and spent 16 years as a civil rights and criminal defense attorney, including leading the Legal Rights Center.

Kaela isn’t a career politician or a millionaire. She’s a mom, lifelong Minnesotan, flight attendant, union leader, and Minnesota State Representative who has spent her life standing up for working people. 

She knows firsthand what families across Minnesota are facing because she’s lived it herself. She has worked up to three jobs at a time, bought groceries at the dollar store to feed her family, and even went without health insurance during the pandemic.

As a flight attendant, Kaela found her calling in the labor movement. She became a union leader fighting for livable wages, quality healthcare, and dignity on the job. That experience taught her the power of collective action—and inspired her to bring the voices of working people into public office.

Since being elected to the Minnesota House, Kaela has continued that fight, helping lead efforts to fully fund public schools, prevent gun violence, protect healthcare, and stand up to union busting. And she is committed to making government work for everyday people instead of wealthy special interests.

Now she’s running for Congress because she believes Washington has lost touch with the people it is supposed to serve.

From the moment she entered Congress, Ilhan has been one of the clearest and most courageous voices fighting for working people, immigrants, peace, racial justice, and democracy — even as she’s faced relentless attacks from the far right, corporate interests, and the political establishment.

At a time when too many politicians stay silent in the face of authoritarianism and corporate power, Ilhan Omar continues to stand up and fight.

According to her campaign, Ilhan is running to continue building a future rooted in:
