New York progressives are heading into November ready to build power in Albany.
Our Revolution is proud to endorse a slate of candidates for New York State Assembly who are taking on the status quo and fighting for working people — from Queens and Brooklyn to Manhattan and Western New York.
These candidates are organizers, advocates, working parents, attorneys, and community leaders running on the issues New Yorkers feel every day: housing, affordability, healthcare, childcare, workers’ rights, immigrant protections, and making government work for ordinary people.
Meet Our Revolution’s New York Assembly slate:
Samantha Kattan — Assembly District 37
Samantha Kattan is a working parent, longtime tenant organizer, daughter of Mexican and Syrian immigrants, and democratic socialist running to represent Long Island City, Maspeth, Ridgewood, Sunnyside, and Woodside.
Through her work organizing tenants, Samantha says she has seen both the housing conditions New Yorkers are forced to endure and the power people have when they organize together. She is running on social housing, stronger tenant protections, universal healthcare, free childcare, immigrant rights, and greener, healthier neighborhoods.
David Orkin — Assembly District 38
David Orkin is an immigrant workers’ rights attorney, union organizer, and democratic socialist running in Queens.
David has dedicated his career to defending workers and immigrants, and he’s running to take that fight to Albany. His campaign is focused on taxing the rich to fund childcare, housing, transit, and healthcare; protecting immigrant communities from ICE; and strengthening labor protections so workers can organize, earn fair wages, and hold employers accountable. His campaign also rejects corporate lobby, fossil fuel, and real estate money.
Christian Celeste Tate — Assembly District 54
Christian Celeste Tate is a community organizer and democratic socialist running to represent Bushwick and parts of East New York, including Cypress Hills and City Line.
Christian is running to build what her campaign calls a city where everyone has access to housing, healthcare, safety, and dignity. Her platform puts fighting displacement and keeping people in their homes at the center of the campaign, and she rejects corporate, fossil-fuel, and real-estate money.
Eon Huntley — Assembly District 56
Eon Huntley is an organizer running to represent Brooklyn’s 56th Assembly District on a campaign built around putting people over profit.
His campaign emphasizes organizing, coalition-building, direct action, and housing justice. Eon also pledges to reject corporate donations, including money from real estate interests, as he works to build a grassroots movement for working people in Brooklyn.
Illapa Sairitupac — Assembly District 65
Illapa Sairitupac is a tenant organizer and anti-ICE activist running to represent Lower Manhattan.
Illapa says New York is becoming unaffordable for everyone but the wealthy, and he’s running to make New York more affordable for working people, defend renters, and stand up to ICE. His campaign is rooted in the working-class and immigrant communities of Chinatown and the Lower East Side and the belief that the people who built these neighborhoods should be able to afford to remain in them.
David Siffert — Assembly District 66
David Siffert is an NYU School of Law professor seeking to represent lower Manhattan and become the first non-binary member of the NY state legislature.
After several years in private practice, David returned to NYU Law to serve as the director of research and projects at the school’s Center on Civil Justice – an initiative that advocates for more efficient procedures in local and federal courts and broader access to legal services for all Americans. Their campaign is rooted in issues like affordable housing, immigrants’ rights, and artificial intelligence regulation.
Building Progressive Power in Albany
These races represent what Our Revolution has always been about: building progressive power from the ground up.
From tenant organizers and union organizers to public defenders and community advocates, these candidates are taking the fights happening in their neighborhoods directly to Albany.
This November, we have an opportunity to elect a new generation of progressive leaders who will fight for working people and help build a stronger progressive bloc in the New York State Assembly.
