We Had Abdul El-Sayed’s Back in the Primary. Now We’re Going Even Bigger.

Abdul El-Sayed is officially the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan — and Our Revolution is ready for the fight ahead.

Abdul pulled off a remarkable primary victory despite being dramatically outspent. Now he faces Republican Mike Rogers in November in a race that could help determine control of the United States Senate.

And Republicans aren’t wasting any time.

The Senate Leadership Fund, the top super PAC aligned with Senate Republicans, announced another $6 million in TV and digital spending in Michigan to attack Abdul and boost Rogers — part of a massive national effort to protect the Republican Senate majority.

The attacks are getting uglier, too. Since Abdul became the first Muslim ever nominated by a major party for U.S. Senate, prominent Republicans have unleashed anti-Muslim rhetoric and attempted to portray his faith and identity as a threat.

Our message to Abdul is simple: We’ve got your back.

We’ve been here before.

During the Democratic primary, billionaire-backed outside groups and special interests poured tens of millions of dollars into the race. Abdul’s campaign reported nearly $60 million in outside spending against him and in support of his primary opponent.

They had Big Money.

We had people.

Our Revolution members and volunteers made more than 300,000 voter contacts during the primary to help organize Michiganders behind Abdul and his people-powered campaign.

And we won.

Now we’re taking that grassroots operation to another level.

A Progressive Fighter for the U.S. Senate

Abdul isn’t running just to change who occupies a Senate seat. He’s running to change who that seat works for.

Born and raised in Michigan, Abdul is a doctor, former director of the Detroit Health Department, former Wayne County health director, and union member who has spent his career trying to make government work for ordinary people.

His agenda gets directly at the imbalance of power hurting working families: get money out of politics, put money back in people’s pockets, and pass Medicare for All. He’s fighting for affordable housing, clean air and water, accessible education, stronger democracy, and an economy that works for everyone — not just billionaires and corporations.

That’s the kind of progressive leadership we need in the Senate.

Michigan Is a Battle for the Future of the Senate

The choice in November is clear.

On one side is Mike Rogers and a Republican political machine backed by enormous amounts of super PAC money.

On the other is a grassroots movement fighting to send a true progressive to the United States Senate.

The Republican establishment understands the stakes. That’s why they’re spending millions now to try to define Abdul before voters hear directly from him.

We’re not going to let Big Money have the last word.

Our Revolution is setting BIG goals for the general election. We’re going to organize, call, text, and mobilize as many Michigan voters as possible between now and Election Day.

We made more than 300,000 voter contacts in the primary.

Now we’re preparing to go even bigger.

Because this race is about more than defeating Mike Rogers. It’s an opportunity to send a progressive fighter to the Senate who will stand with working people, take on corporate power, and fight alongside Bernie Sanders for the transformational change our country needs.

The attacks will keep coming. The super PAC checks will keep getting bigger.

But we’ve already shown what happens when thousands of ordinary people organize together against Big Money.

They can spend millions attacking Abdul. Our movement is going to talk to the voters who decide this election.

We had Abdul’s back in the primary. We’ll have his back all the way through November.

Let’s win this seat. Let’s send a true progressive to the U.S. Senate.

When we organize, we win.

Our Revolution
