Marsie Geldert-Murphey — Senate District 56
Marsie Geldert-Murphey is a builder — literally.
A civil engineer with more than 30 years of experience, Marsie has spent her career building the roads, bridges, and infrastructure communities depend on. Now, this political newcomer wants to put that experience to work building a stronger future for downstate Illinois.
Marsie understands that investing in infrastructure means creating good jobs and expanding economic opportunity. She wants smart, inclusive growth that allows young people to stay and succeed in their communities — while strengthening public schools, early childhood education, and school nutrition programs.
She’s also committed to protecting access to healthcare, including fighting for robust Medicaid funding and strengthening the healthcare workforce so families, seniors, children, and people with disabilities can get the care they need.
Marsie believes real change starts in our communities — by listening, bringing people together, and putting people and progress at the center of public policy.

Ben McAdams — Senate District 24
Ben McAdams is running with a bold progressive vision: healthcare and housing should be rights, working families deserve an economy that works for them, and corporations and the ultra-wealthy should pay their fair share.
A lifelong Illinois resident, Ben got his start in local activism and community organizing before studying public interest law and working with legal nonprofits to help people who couldn’t afford representation.
Ben believes healthcare is a human right and wants Illinois to invest in public healthcare, protect reproductive and mental healthcare, and defend communities from Medicaid cuts.
He also wants to shift the tax burden off working and middle-class families by making corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay more — including through a billionaire wealth tax, closing corporate tax loopholes, and taxing digital advertising by Big Tech.
On climate, Ben supports public investment toward a 100% green energy economy, regulating AI and data centers, and making polluters pay. He’s also committed to protecting immigrants from ICE overreach, defending LGBTQ+ rights and voting rights, and ensuring due process for everyone.
From affordable healthcare and good-paying jobs to climate action and economic justice, Ben is running to build an Illinois that works for everyday people — not just those with the most wealth and power.
Marsie and Ben bring different experiences to this fight, but they share a commitment to building an Illinois where government delivers for working people.
