Our Revolution is proud to endorse Peter Hubbard for reelection to the Georgia Public Service Commission — an energy expert and consumer advocate taking on powerful utility interests to fight for lower bills and a clean, reliable energy future.
Peter isn’t your typical politician. Before taking office, he spent 15 years working in the energy sector and analyzing energy markets, including developing grid-scale solar and battery storage projects that provide clean, reliable power.
He also founded a nonprofit and spent six years advocating for consumers before the Georgia Public Service Commission — challenging Georgia Power’s costly plans and putting forward alternatives designed to keep utility bills down.
Then, last November, Georgia voters sent him to the other side of the hearing room.
Peter won a special election to the PSC and was sworn in as a commissioner in January. And he wasted no time putting his energy expertise to work for Georgia consumers.
In his first months on the Commission, Peter has demanded an independent audit of Georgia Power’s profit margin, pushed to reconsider the PSC’s 2025 approval of a major fossil-fuel expansion, and published an analysis estimating that electricity discounts for data centers could shift more than $1 billion in infrastructure costs onto residential customers.
He has also testified before the state legislature about the need for stronger consumer protections.
For years, Peter was on the outside of the PSC fighting for consumers. Now he’s on the inside — asking tough questions, challenging corporate power, and pushing to put ratepayers ahead of utility profits.
Together with Commissioner Alicia Johnson, Peter’s election cut what had been a 5–0 Republican majority on the Commission to 3–2. This November, Peter is running for a full six-year term, with another PSC seat also on the ballot.
Peter’s campaign is focused on lower utility bills, reliable clean energy, and putting consumers at the center of the decisions that determine Georgia’s energy future.
