Our Revolution is proud to endorse Estuardo Mazariegos for Los Angeles City Council District 9.
Estuardo has spent nearly two decades organizing alongside working families in South Los Angeles. Now, he’s running to take that fight to City Hall.
A father, immigrant and longtime community organizer, Mazariegos came to Los Angeles as a child after his family fled political violence in Guatemala. Today, he serves as Co-Director of the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), where he has helped turn neighborhood organizing into citywide victories for tenants and working families.
His campaign points to a record that includes helping lead the fights for Los Angeles’ Tenant Anti-Harassment Ordinance and Resident Protection Ordinance and helping pass Measure ULA, which raises revenue for affordable housing and homelessness programs.
That organizing background is at the heart of his campaign for City Council.
Mazariegos is running on a platform to lower rents, strengthen tenant protections, expand social housing, raise wages and improve basic city services. He also supports making buses free, expanding protected bike and bus lanes, investing in community-based violence prevention and mental-health care, and strengthening police accountability.
His campaign puts immigrant rights front and center, calling for legal representation and due process regardless of immigration status, stronger access to city services and greater economic protections for immigrant families. And he has laid out proposals addressing environmental justice and protections for LGBTQ+ Angelenos.
Mazariegos refuses money from corporate PACs, real estate developers and police associations, instead running a grassroots campaign accountable to District 9 residents rather than wealthy or well-connected interests.
For Mazariegos, the through-line is the same one that has defined his years as an organizer: building power for the people who make Los Angeles run — workers, tenants, immigrants and families — and demanding that city government deliver for them.
