“Big Crypto poured $119 million into the 2024 elections—more than any other industry—and now they’re getting exactly what they paid for. The 18 Senate Democrats who backed this bill sold out and should be ashamed of themselves.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Last night, the U.S. Senate passed the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act—a controversial bill championed by crypto giant Coinbase and other deep-pocketed industry players.

Joseph Geevarghese, Executive Director of Our Revolution—the nation’s largest independent political organizing group founded by Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2016—issued the following statement following the vote:  

“The GENIUS Act is a gift to the ultra-wealthy and a disaster for working Americans. It gives even more power to billionaires like Zuckerberg and Musk—letting them launch their own digital currencies to harvest your data and track your every move.

“It pretends to regulate, but it’s full of loopholes that open the floodgates to fraud, scams, and criminal abuse by drug cartels, terrorist groups, and hostile foreign regimes. And unbelievably, the bill even includes a carveout that allows Trump to personally profit off of crypto.

“Big Crypto poured $119 million into the 2024 elections—more than any other industry—and now they’re getting exactly what they paid for. The 18 Senate Democrats who backed this bill sold out and should be ashamed of themselves.”

Our Revolution has led national opposition to this harmful legislation. Prior to the vote, it presented the Senate with a petition signed by more than 10,000 grassroots activists demanding lawmakers oppose the GENIUS Act.

Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s War with Iran

Trump is on the cusp of dragging the U.S. into Netanyahu’s war against Iran, a move that would ignite catastrophic conflict and risk countless American and Iranian lives.

Bernie Sanders just introduced the No War Against Iran Act in the Senate, and Ro Khanna introduced a bipartisan War Powers Resolution in the House, to stop Trump in his tracks.

These critical bills would block any unauthorized military action by using Congress’s full constitutional authority to cut off funding for war with Iran – and we need huge, immediate pressure on Congress.

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution makes it crystal clear that Congress has the SOLE authority to declare war.

No Kings Day of Defiance: 5 Million Rise Up Nationwide

This past Saturday, history was made.

In an unprecedented show of people power, more than 5 million Americans took to the streets in cities, towns, and communities across the country to send a simple, unmistakable message: We reject kings. We reject oligarchs. We reject authoritarian rule in America.

From bustling urban centers to rural crossroads, everyday people stood shoulder to shoulder to defend democracy against the creeping threats of corporate greed, billionaire control, and the lawless ambitions of Donald Trump and his allies.

Our Revolution proudly organized events at 56 locations nationwide—from New York to Santa Rosa, from Houston to St. Paul—helping to anchor this national outpouring of outrage and resolve. Our members, partners, and supporters rallied under the banner of “No Kings”, refusing to let public resources, federal agencies, and the military be hijacked by a would-be strongman clinging to power.

While Trump tries to play emperor with taxpayer-funded troops and ICE raids in America’s cities, the people reminded him—and the world—that this country belongs to all of us, not to a handful of oligarchs or corporate kings.

The size, spirit, and scope of this mobilization proves what we have long known: the movement to defend democracy and economic justice is growing stronger, louder, and more unstoppable by the day.

Grassroots Progressives to Mobilize in 2,000 Cities for ‘No Kings Day’—the Largest National Protest Against Authoritarianism Since Trump Took Office

 

Hundreds of Thousands of Grassroots Activists Across 2,000 Cities to Reject Trump’s $Multi-Million Military Parade and His Assault on Democracy, Working People, and the Constitution

 

Washington, DC — On Saturday, June 14, grassroots members of Our Revolution,, the nation’s largest progressive political organization, will mobilize alongside a broad coalition of allies in more than 2,000 cities, towns, and rural communities to deliver a clear and unified message: “America has no kings.”

No Kings Day is a nationwide day of defiance and solidarity, organized by Our Revolution and a national coalition of progressive organizations, calling on members and communities everywhere to stand up to Donald Trump’s authoritarianism, reject his billionaire-first politics, and oppose the $45 million taxpayer-funded military parade he has staged to mark his birthday.

From coast to coast, grassroots progressives will gather to resist Trump’s escalating power grab and to remind the world what democracy looks like when it’s powered by the people, not billionaires.

On June 14th, Trump will celebrate his birthday with an authoritarian spectacle, with tanks rolling through the streets of our nation’s capital.

It will be a horrifying display fitting of a dictator, but our movement is rising up to drown it out and show Trump who’s really in charge of this democracy — we the people!

The next MASSIVE nationwide protest is just ONE WEEK AWAY with 1,475 events coming together for No Kings Day of Defiance on June 14th.

We will be showing up in force from cities to small towns — from Philly and Los Angeles to Bowie, MD, and Steamboat Springs, CO — we will be all across the nation, demonstrating the strength of the opposition against Trump and his regime.

Organizing protests coast to coast isn’t easy, and we rely on the grassroots to power these actions, from boots on the ground to setting up sound systems and providing transportation.

FIGHTING CRYPTO CORRUPTION

The GOP is pushing a crypto bill — the so-called “GENIUS Act” — which would allow the Trump family to make billions while destabilizing our economy and leaving working people vulnerable to scams.

Our Revolution activists and allies greeted the Grifter-in-Chief and his crypto financiers as they arrived at Trump National Golf Club to buy influence with the president.

We were joined by Sen. Jeff Merkley and our allies at Public Citizen to make it clear that AMERICA IS NOT FOR SALE. “This is the Mount Everest of corruption,” the senator said.

The NY Times, Common Dreams, and many other news outlets took notice, amplifying our action to crack down on Trump’s crypto corruption.

Joseph Geevarghese, executive director of Our Revolution, said Trump’s meme coin is worthless without the access it buys. “Invest in the coin and you’ll get a seat at the table,” he said. “We’re here to send a message to Trump: Our democracy is not for sale.”

Our activists shouted ‘shame, shame, shame’ as the presidential motorcade arrived. And, the White House felt the heat, putting out a video of Trump saying he puts “the country way ahead of the business.”  Sureeee.

US Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jeff Merkley joined our LIVE Town Hall to break down Trump’s crypto corruption — and this week, our activists took to Capitol Hill to bird-dog Congress members — including senators like Cory Booker, who joined 15 other Democrats to advance the bill.

Our Revolution also held a virtual town hall on Tuesday to hold Sen. Angela Alsobrooks accountable for her vote for the GOP crypto bill.

The senator didn’t show up, but our movement did. And on Thursday, we delivered your messages directly to Alsobrooks’ office and asked her why she would enable Trump’s crypto corruption and empower the tech oligarchs.

This is more than just about crypto — it’s about taking a stand against the billionaire takeover of our government.

BIG BAD BUDGET BATTLE

Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” would eliminate health insurance for over 10 million Americans, take food away from 4 million children, cut Medicare and Medicaid by more than $1 trillion, and give the top 1% a $664 billion tax break.

With Trump and Elon Musk feuding over the bill, and masses of Americans standing in unison to oppose it, there’s a real chance to make an impact.

We’re keeping the heat on GOP Reps, with our activists directly confronting many of them in the halls of Congress — and with grassroots support, we’ll continue this work on Capitol Hill until Republicans break.

When we encountered Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-7), he literally RAN up three flights of steps to avoid accountability for his support for TRILLIONS to the Pentagon and wealthy billionaires at the expense of healthcare and essential programs.

We only need to pick off a few Republicans, and some are already showing weakness.  Our direct organizing paired with Bernie’s rallies in key red districts turned up the heat, leading 12 GOP Congress members to publicly denounce the Medicaid cuts.

Our Revolution Urges Democrats to Reject Oligarch Influence and Uphold Democratic Values

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — June 10, 2025 — Joseph Geevarghese, Executive Director of Our Revolution, today called on all Democratic leaders and candidates to commit to the “No Oligarch Money” pledge and unequivocally reject any alignment with billionaire Elon Musk, despite his recent public split with President Donald Trump.

“Elon Musk’s fallout with Donald Trump is not a redemption arc—it’s a power play,” said Geevarghese. “This is not the time for Democrats to cozy up to a billionaire who has spent years undermining democracy, dismantling public institutions, and threatening elected officials with his vast fortune.”

Musk, who previously served as the head of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), orchestrated sweeping layoffs and attempted to shutter agencies like USAID and the Department of Education without legal authority. He also funneled over $277 million into Republican campaigns in 2024 and threatened to bankroll primary challengers against Democrats who opposed his agenda.

“Let’s be clear: Musk was never elected, never confirmed, and never accountable to the public,” Geevarghese continued. “His role in the Trump administration was a corporate coup cloaked in the language of efficiency. Now that he’s feuding with Trump, some Democrats are entertaining the idea of welcoming him into our ranks. That would be a catastrophic mistake.”

Recent reports indicate that some Democratic figures, including Rep. Ro Khanna, have suggested opening a dialogue with Musk due to shared opposition to Trump’s fiscal policies. However, Geevarghese emphasized that Musk’s motivations remain self-serving and antithetical to progressive values.

“Musk’s interests have always aligned with the billionaire class, not working people,” said Geevarghese. “His recent criticisms of Trump’s policies are not born out of newfound principles but from personal grievances and business interests. Democrats must not be swayed by his wealth or influence.”

Our Revolution urges all Democratic leaders to:

  • Publicly commit to the “No Oligarch Money” pledge, refusing donations from billionaires and corporate PACs.
  • Reject any attempts to align with Elon Musk or similar figures whose actions have undermined democratic institutions.
  • Prioritize the interests of working-class Americans over the influence of the ultra-wealthy.

“The Democratic Party must stand firm against the encroachment of oligarchic power,” Geevarghese concluded. “Aligning with Elon Musk would not only betray our values but also alienate the very voters we aim to represent. We must choose people over plutocrats.”

No Troops in Our Streets: Trump’s Authoritarian Crackdown Must Be Stopped

At Our Revolution, we stand firm against President Trump’s alarming deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles and his threats of broader military crackdowns across the nation. These actions are not about public safety—they are a blatant abuse of power meant to intimidate, inflame, and silence dissent. The line between civilian and military rule is sacred in a democracy, and we must defend it at all costs.

This Is Authoritarianism, Not Safety

Trump’s use of combat-trained troops to confront peaceful protesters is not about protecting communities—it’s about flexing authoritarian control. The military is not equipped for crowd control or de-escalation, and weaponizing it to score political points is a hallmark of tyranny. This is a deliberate attempt to intimidate Americans exercising their constitutional rights, not a step toward restoring order.

The Constitution Is Under Attack

By deploying troops against Americans—over the objections of local leaders—Trump is trampling on the constitutional right to peaceful protest. These military crackdowns are a dangerous escalation designed to silence dissent and erode the foundations of our democracy. We cannot allow this assault on our freedoms to go unchecked.

Our elected officials have a duty to stop this authoritarian overreach. Congress must use every tool at its disposal—funding blocks, hearings, and legislative limits—to halt these dangerous deployments. This is not a time for silence or half-measures.
